According to a letter written to Antonie Petersen, daughter of the mayor of Hamburg, Mahler moved into the apartment at Bundestrasse 10/III on March 16, 1892 (see also his letter to his sister Justine of February 1892). Starting in the fall of 1893 Mahler lived for one year in Fröbelstrasse 14, fourth floor, according to a letter written to his sister Emma in the middle of November 1893. Justine mentions in a letter to her friend Ernestine Löhr that she and Mahler moved to Parkallee 12/III on September 12, 1894 (see also the letter to Justine of September 1, 1894). From 1896 to 1897 Mahler lived in houses at Bismarkstrasse 18 and 87. The house at Bundestrasse 10, which is marked by a memorial plaque, is the only one of Mahler's dwellings in Hamburg which was not destroyed during the Second World War.
