Mahler was buried here. (After his death, the body of his daughter, Maria, who died in 1907, was moved here from Maiernigg.)
Gravestone by Joseph Hoffmann.
In the adjoining row are the gravestones of Alma Mahler-Werfel (died 1964) and her daughter Manon Gropius (died 1935, the "Angel" of Alban
Berg's violin concerto).
Mahler's sister Justine and her husband Arnold Rosé were also buried in the Grinzing Cemetery. The name of their daughter, Alma Rosé, who died of food poisoning or possibly typhus in Auschwitz, is also on the gravestone.
